Name of old TV Show that appeared on The Family Channel?

All I can remember is that the show depicted a man in his early middle ages and he talked to an alligator/crocodile, a toucan, and an orangutan. It appeared on the FAMILY channel before it transferred over to FOX FAMILY and it's "Time Slot" was either before or after the "Three Stooges" reruns during the Late night hours. I have found out it came out durinfg the 80's
