Why do conservatives mix "moral values" and "family values" with politics?

Things like moral values and family values belong to religion. Why don't they work in a church if that's what their world revolves around? Every person has the right to live his life the way he wants without being forced to follow someone else's moral values. For example I don't have to vote if I don't want to and I don't have to work if I don't want to. However a conservative would say I am unpatriotic because I didn't vote and lazy sheep because I don't work. Where in law does it say you must vote or work? Likewise where in law it says moral values or family values must be forced upon everyone?
