Should parents be allowed to take away somthing you bought?

i bought my laptop for 500$ last year and its been mine and only mine scence then. but now im grounded for getting a D on a midterm i have no problem with them taking away my phone (they pay for it ) but They took away MY laptop should they be allowed?
