Terminator story line question?

Well if you really think about it, they had to make the movies fit together. How I saw it all along is why would they have sent Terminators back in time if the war never happened? So I think everything happened just the way is was supposed to happen. Judgement Day was postponed but that was because of what happened in the past when John Connor was a boy. I don't really know but I just think everything happened the way it was supposed to happen.
