Is there a way to fix black ops lag on Xbox?

Some people don't suffer from lag at all it seems...they do well every game etc...when I do bad its because the game lags. So my question is...if some people seldom have lag issues....then what do they have that others don't? I have comcast high speed internet with with a linxsys router, relatively new...I use a wifi connection to my xbox from a router a few rooms away....I can't wire it in. Any other solution?
